Triple Seven Summits

Ricky has an ambitious plan to climb the three highest peaks on every continent. To date, only one person has ever completed this remarkable challenge. In January 2012, Hans Kammerlander claimed to have become the first person to complete the Second Seven Summits by climbing Mount Tyree in Antarctica. However, Austrian mountain guide Christian Stangl is now considered to be the first to achieve this feat. There is ongoing debate over which mountains actually comprise the 2nd and 3rd highest on several continents; not surprising when you consider that many of these mountains are remote and rarely visited by climberrs.

However, Ricky is focused on the mountains in the list below, because none of the mountains below can be considered a subsidiary summit of any other mountain. The mountains are listed below, along with Ricky's completion date or planned ascent date.

The next expedition in this long-term project will be a return to the Andes in Decmebr 2014 to try to climb Ojos del Salado (6,893m) and Monte Pissis (6,795m), the second and third highest summits in South America. In summer 2015, Ricky plans a second attempt on Denali, and in December 2015 he will return to East Africa to climb Batian (5,199m), the technical summit of Mount Kenya. That expedition will also include a second ascent of Kilimanjaro, with an attempt on Mawenzi, the rarely-climbed second highest peak.
